5 inches and column about 21. It measures about 65 inches fully extended legs extend 22. It weighs about 8 lbs.

Legs appear to be heavy aluminum or alloy, the leg and extensions stainless steel. Tripod is very sturdy, appears to have been used a great deal. It has some cosmetic wear to black paint, but components all seem work well. Bilora model 3142 surveying tripod here is a great old all-metal german-made with bubble level and 3-inch head to accommodate instruments.
